365Daily – The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has constituted a committee to investigate why 10 of the country’s track and field athletes did not conduct the mandatory out of competition tests, which led to their disqualification at the just-concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
According to a statement from the Sports Ministry, the committee, which has seven members, is headed by Prof. Ken Anugweje of the University of Port Harcourt.
The members include Dr. John Onyeudo, Director, Sports Medicine, Sports Ministry; Femi Ajao of the ministry’s zonal office and Maria Wophil from the Federation and Elite Athletes Department of the ministry, who is the Secretary.
Other members are Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu, a former Director of Science at the National Sports Commission; DIG. Sani Mohammed, a former board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and Udo-Obong Enefiok, former athlete and Olympian.
