In 2003-2004, Arsenal, a football club in London played 38 games in the English league and were undefeated. It was such a wonderful feat, that the team was nicknamed the invincibles. They won the league that year and it remains a reference point for all fans of that club till date.
It is the dream of every boxer, football team, athlete to stay unbeaten in his career. Such records are remembered for ever, like the Preston North End team of the 1888–89 season, or Arsenal of 2004. Even AC Milan and Juventus were unbeaten in 1991–92 and 2011–12 Italian Serie A seasons. Historic teams like these are called the invincibles.
But, you know what guys? God is the real invincible being. God has the longest unbeaten record since creation. He has never lost a single match. And surprisingly, he has made himself available for every team to invite him. He is available. Once he joins your team, you remain unbeaten, no matter your opponent.
So, why do people still lose in life? The answer is simple, they have refused to invite God to their team. We believe we already have what it takes to win; money, intellect, contacts, friends, education, qualifications, etc. But we still lose matches. God is the game changer.
Let me tell you what happens when you invite God into you team, he plays for the entire match, it may appear you have lost some matches but you will win the trophy. He can’t be in your team and you lose.
But, He only plays when he is invited. In Exodus 33:14, God said, “My presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest”. Invite God to your occasion and see him dazzle with performance. The guys at the wedding feast in Cana were amazed when unknown to them, a new player had joined the team. New wine flowed when it was clear that wine had long finished.
It is not enough to be related to Jesus, to be associated with Jesus, deliberately invite him to your team. Mary told the guys, whatever he tells you to do, do it. He shows power and prowess when he is with you. Nothing troubles you when he is on your team. Your tiny troubles like sickness, barrenness, school problems, financial lack, health issues, frustration, anything is nothing to him. God has a rich CV of scoring goals and your problem cannot soil that CV. God is unbeaten in all matches. That’s his current record.
How do you invite him? By contract, accept Jesus to be your personal lord and saviour, live by his instructions and examples. If you already have signed the contract, then invite him By prayers. He said, Call upon me in the days of trouble and I will answer you.
You can also invite him by praise. Sing songs of praise, joyfully and excitedly. God inhabits the praises of his people.
If you need God in your team, You invite him with passion and hunger. He is a Star player! Isaac wrestled with the angel until he blessed him. You don’t just invite God casually, you must pour out your soul and emotions, if you so desperately need him in your team. You need to fight for him to play for you.
In This new month of August and for the rest of the year, God is willing to play in your team, and you will score goals and win, just invite him. Never worry, if God is for you, nothing can be against you. Do you need him in your team?
