….Says secessionist agitators are ignorant

365Daily – President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that state Governors complaining of herdsmen attacks in their states should find a lasting solution to the problem.
The President said this in an exclusive interview with Arise TV aired on Thursday, June 10, 2021, while answering a question on state police.
He said recently, two South-West Governors visited him to complain about herdsmen encroaching on farmers’ lands in their regions.
“You know these people more than I do, and you are democratically elected to protect your people. Don’t sit idly expecting me to do everything, take action,” Buhari said.
Many states have been experiencing deadly attacks on agrarian communities by Fulani herdsmen, putting pressure on the Federal Government to restore stability and even intensifying the clamour for restructuring and devolution of power to the states.
President Muhammadu Buhari also condemned those calling for the sovereignty of Biafra and Oduduwa Republics, saying they are ignorant.
Buhari said instead of suggesting initiatives to attract investors to the country, they are calling for separation.
He added that they are delusional, saying: “Nigerians can say what they want to say. They want their republics. They don’t think about resources. How to share what we have.
“They don’t think (of) how to win the confidence of investors. I think they allow their ignorance to disorganise the country.”
Both the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu and the Oduduwa Republic championed by Oyo-based rights activist, Sunday Igboho, have gained massive support in the Southwest and Southeast regions respectively with IPOB’s May 31 sit- at – home order fully observed in the Southeast, and a series of rallies in the Southwest calling for a new sovereign homeland.
