365Daily – The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Batch A Stream II members posted to Ebonyi State have concluded their three weeks orientation course.
The corps members have been in camp for the past three weeks where they went through various trainings and orientation to prepare them for the one year service to their fatherland.
The closing ceremony took place at the Old Macgregor College Permanent Orientation Camp, Afikpo on Monday, June 7, 2021.
Addressing the Corps Members at the event, the State Coordinator, Mercy Bamai Dawuda, commended them for displaying high sense of discipline, commitment, dedication to duty throughout the duration of the orientation period.
She said a total of 1,559 corps members passed out of the camp and were posted to the 13 local government areas for their primary assignment.
According to her, the posting was done in adherence to the Corps’ posting policy of posting members to four critical sectors which include rural infrastructure, health, education and agriculture.
The state coordinator revealed that 80 percent of the corps members were posted to schools with emphasis on rural posting where their services are needed most.
She expressed hope that the corps members will discharge their duties with diligence and selflessness.
Mrs Bamai charged them to be good ambassadors of the Scheme by shunning all acts that will bring the scheme to disrepute.
She urged the corps members to accept their posting in good fate.
“As you leave camp today, I urge you to settle down quickly in your place of primary assignment, integrate with your host community for the Igbos are hospitable,” she said.
She also charged them to endeavour to leave the state better than they met it by contributing their own quota towards its development.
Mrs Bamai also warned them to be vanguards against all forms of social vices and acts that can lead to the destruction of the country.
The corps members, who were trained in various skills while in camp, were advised by the Coordinator to take the post camp training serious so as to enable them perfect the skills they have been exposed to while in the camp.
