365Daily – Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has sought the collaboration of the United States Government in promoting the quality of higher and general education at all levels across the state.
He made the call when the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, paid him a visit in Sokoto.
The Governor said he was willing to expand the scope of its engagement with the U.S. embassy, agencies and the government into future, while seeking further collaboration with U.S. Government in girl-child education and empowerment of women.
While expressing gratitude for all the state has benefited from the U.S’ numerous support, he stated: ”We look forward to further interaction towards promoting quality of higher and general education at all levels across the state. Sokoto seeks deeper collaborations on human capital development, higher education and empowerment.”
Earlier, Leonard said that the U.S., in 2015, invested about 122 million dollars on enhancing education, healthcare and agricultural business in Nigeria through USAID.
She also noted that the U.S. entered into partnership with the Usman Danfodiyo University (UDUS) on the establishment and sustenance of the American Space Centre and reiterated her government’s commitments to providing community solutions to security challenges, educational growth, healthcare concerns, agriculture and business development.
