Again, suspected IPOB members set Police station in Abia ablaze, kill 2 officers

365Daily – A Police Station located at Apumiri-Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State has been attacked by suspected members of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB), also known as Eastern security Network (ESN), leading to the death of two officers.

365Daily gathered that the gunmen attacked the station around 2am on Monday, May 17, 2021.

They also set the station ablaze including operational vehicles stationed in the vicinity and carted away their ammunitions.

365Daily further gathered that the suspects under detention in the station were freed by the hoodlums.

“There was an attack on the Apumiri Police Station in Ubakala Umuahia South LGA, Abia State by unknown gunmen in the early hours of today.”

“Two police men were shot dead and the attackers made away with their remains, cell inmates were freed and six police officers has been declared missing,” a report by Sahara Reporters quoted Police sources as saying.

There have been repeated attacks on facilities belonging to security agencies in the South East and South South geopolitical zones of the country over the past weeks, thereby compounding the security challenges in the regions.
