365Daily – Emerging facts have shed more light on how an allegedly dismissed soldier of the Nigerian Army, Galadima Sani, who took to kidnapping, killed a five-year-old boy in Kaduna after the family had paid a ransom for his release.
Lance Corporal Sani was reportedly dismissed from the Nigerian Army about five years ago for armed robbery, but the military authorities failed to hand him over to the police for prosecution, according to a report by Sahara Reporters.
A viral video which shows Sani confessing to the crime surfaced on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
He said one Nezibi approached him for a loan to use as capital for his business based in Abuja. Sani said he told him he did not have money and Nezibi then told him that they should kidnap the son of one Alhaji Usman Kabir who is his neighbour, a car dealer and has a lot of money.
In his confession, he said: ”I asked him how it is going to be and he said I should not worry that he will bring the boy to me, so I don’t know what he thought later, he said he wouldn’t bring the boy anymore, he will send him nearby and i will pick him from there, at Shagari Junction, Badarawa, Kaduna.
”So, from there, I took him to Zaria where we slept for one night. I then decided that I could not be walking around with a little boy in town. Actually, Hajiya Amina (one of the arrested suspects) does not know anything about this thing, she is innocent. I took the boy to her house and lied that he is my brother’s child because she knows I have a brother in Kano and he is late. So, I took that advantage and convinced her but she is innocent.
”So, when the ransom was paid, N1 million, that very day, I met with Nezibi that this people have met N1 million and he said why did we collect N1 million after he told us that his father has money? We said it was because the father dragged and dragged with us (kept negotiating) and by that time I had given Babangida (also referred to him as Umar Mainasara) N150, 000. That was the time Nezibi started telling me that there is problem. I asked him what the problem was and he said if possible, let that boy not come back.
”I now called this Babangida and told him this is what Nezibi said. I then went to Hajiya Amina’s house, took the boy and took him to Babangida. He then asked me to hold his leg and he then held his mouth and nose and that was how the boy died.”
”Out of the money I collected, I gave Babangida N150, 000, the remaining money was with me. In the morning of the day I was arrested, Nezibi came to my place and collected the money so that we will share because Babangida had gotten his share.
”I suspect the boy recognised Nezibi but he did not know me.”
He said he ”felt very bad” after killing the boy.
