Every Nigerian State Governor drinks something just as those of you in the National Assembly do. Some drink water. Some fura da nunu. Some St. Louis. Others Bayelsa Water.

I don’t know much about Governor Victor Okezie Ikpeazu though I’ve met him twice at the Government House, Umuahia. The other times we spoke on the telephone. I was only doing my humble work of journalism. At those times, I didn’t weigh him as sounding like a drunk. But you might know him better since both of you belong to the same club of jolly-good-fellows.
So Smart,
To describe Ikpeazu in the manner you did was uncouth and unbecoming of a Senator. Nigerians thought that their Senators were mannered in speech until your conduct yesterday.

If you knew Ikpeazu to be a drunk, the best would have been for you to counsel him in private and keep your prayers up for him. You should have taken him to the Bible where God expressly says,
“Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
“They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
“Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
“At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.”

Come off your Olympian Height and tender well-worded apologies to Governor Ikpeazu and the people of Abia State not later than today for your insult on their dignity.
