Two siblings identified as Chiamaka Ifezue and Emeka Ifezue, were on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, arraigned at an Enugu State Magistrate Court for the alleged murder of one Ijeoma Nweke, a make-up artist.
Ijeoma’s death trended on social media last year, after she went missing and her corpse was found on the street of Enugu. The ugly incident occurred after she reportedly went to keep a business appointment.
It was alleged that the accused, Chiamaka, who was said to be dating the same person as Ijeoma, conspired with her brother, Emeka, to kill her, accusing her of messing around with her boyfriend.
It was disclosed that Chiamaka lured Ijeoma to her death by inviting her for a phantom make-up job, where she was attacked by the siblings, who forced her to drink a poisonous substance that allegedly led to her death.
However, it was said that on getting to the location, she suspected foul play and quickly sent a message to a friend, alerting her of the situation before she was forced to drink the poison.
That desperate but smart move turned out to be a vital lead that exposed the suspects, who after the heinous crime, still went ahead to
pour a substance suspected to be acid on her corpse.
A witness told the court that Emeka was the one that poured acid on the body of Ijeoma after it was dumped at Maryland area of Enugu Metropolis.
A very distressed mother of the victim was seen in the court premises wailing uncontrollably as she asked God for justice for her beautiful daughter whose life was terminated in such a horrendous manner.
The case was adjourned to February 24, 2021.
