A former member representing Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State at the National Assembly, and Chairman, Peugeot Automobiles of Nigeria (PAN), Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Wadada, has declared his intention to contest the senatorial seat of Nasarawa West come 2023, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) adding that incumbent senator, Abdullahi Adamu has told him to start warming up as he would not re-contest.
Speaking in a political programme of the Maloney FM monitored in Keffi at the weekend, Wadada who is a two term member of the Green Chambers stated that his decision to make himself available for such contest was borne out of the desires to serve the people of the constituency, and the clarion calls from all quarters.
He stated that haven analyzed the situation on the ground and given his cognate legislative experiences, which the people of the constituency are still reaping from, he has offered himself for such services now at the higher level.
“Having acquired the needed cognate legislative experiences during my eight years at the Green Chambers, coupled with the clarion calls from the people of the constituency, and as a person that is desirous to serve, I have no option than to contest so that more things of great benefits would come to them again “he remarked enthusiastically.
“The reliable information available to us is that the present Senator occupying the seat, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu is not contesting again as such since a vacuum is going to be created, a person of my calibre that is competent and capable enough should come up to wear the big shoe to provide the desired representation for the people”, he stated.
He however stated that in the event he (the present Senator) decided to make a U-turn or change his decision to contest, he has no option than to slug it out with him to allows the people make their decisions.
Speaking about whether he is contemplating to go for the governorship seat in case he did not make it this time around, Wadada ruled out the possibilities of going for such contest saying that since he has done such in 2019 and up gallant second he has no decision whatsoever to seek for the position of the governor since the present occupant has been living up to the expectations of people of the state.
On the insinuations making the rounds that he is contesting to decamp to another political party in case he may not get the chance to contest, the Senatorial hopeful stated that since he accepted the outcome of the APC Governorship primary elections in good faiths as a sportsman and also went ahead to congratulate the winner and his team as well as chair the campaign council the issue of changing to any platform does not even arise anymore.
“The issue of me decamping to any political party to seek for elections is just the imaginations of some people, but for me, as a true democrat and firm believer in the spirit of sportsmanship such thing is not in my agenda and moreover whatever the decision one has taken it for the people to decide or have a final say”, he remarked”.
Speaking about what is recently happening in far away United States of America (USA), Hon. Ahmad Wadada described it as a true demonstration of stronger and reliable institutions of democracy that supersedes the powers or influence of any person(s) holding the position of power to manipulate unconstitutionally which if not for that Donald Trump would have his way to scuttle the wills and wishes of America and Americans to his own selfish advantages.
Commenting about the age of the President Joe Biden, he said even though at 78 does not matter, because he would need the help or combination of both the young and old to succeed.
