Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, has described as fake and unfounded, news reports that she was summoned by the Nigeria Police Force on orders of the inspector general because of pictures posted on her social media page.
The actress had posted pictures of herself on her instagram page wearing a backless dress with uncovered hair. Islam, which Sadau practices, prohibits such dressing.
Her action earned her a ban from the northern movie industry, Kannywood, harsh criticism and threats.
But on her Twitter handle, the actress said she never received any police invitation or faced trial and had no idea where the news emanated from.
She wrote, “I have received many messages that I have been arrested and sentenced to jail earlier today. I have no idea where the news emanated from. I’m therefore calling on people to stop spreading FAKE and unfounded stories.
“I haven’t received any police invitation or court trial. I’m reiterating this to well wishers that I’m SAFE and FINE and I have never received any legal trial for whatever reason. To those trying to bank on this issue to create an unrest, Please give it a rest..!!!
“It’s indeed a hard time for me.
This is not the right time for FAKE NEWS. Much love to those who reached out, I’m grateful.”
A letter allegedly signed by the principal staff officer to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, addressed to the CP of Kaduna State had ordered a look into a petition written by one Mallam Lawal Gusau.
A copy of the letter, dated November 3, 2020, marked CR:7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/Vol.508/313, was posted on social media by FIM Magazine.
The letter was entitled, ‘Complaint of Causing and Acknowledging Derogatory and Blasphemous Comments Against Prophet Muhammed On Rahma Sadau, Kaduna, Kaduna State and Request for Urgent Intervention’.
It stated in part, “I am to convey the directive of the Inspector General of Police that you treat proactively with a view to ensuring that the development does not result in any act that could threaten public peace and security. The Inspector-General of Police further directs that you furnish him with updates accordingly.”
The actress was reportedly on her way to Dubai but had to shelve the trip in order to honour the invitation.
