Smith Obi, a 19 year old male, has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly being in unlawful possession of one brownie pistol with live ammunition.
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday gave the order after the police charged Obi with the allegation.
However, the Chief Magistrate of the court, O. A. Layinka, did not take Obi’s plea, ordering instead that the prosecution should send the case file to the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice before adjourning the case until December 21 for hearing.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, had informed the court that Obi was arrested with one brownie pistol with one live ammunition.
He also disclosed that Obi committed the offence on October 1. about 4.30 p.m. on Sabo Street, Agege, a Lagos suburb.
