The Governor of Enuge state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, earlier today, received President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief-of-Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu who are in Enugu state, to attend a meeting with the governors and leaders from the South east .
The meeting, holding at the Government House, Enugu, 365Daily gathered, is part of a nationwide consultation by the presidency over sundry national issues that bother on national security, the recent #EndSARS protests against police brutality and other forms of injustices against the people.
365Daily also learnt that the presidential aide would use the opportunity to directly deliver President Buhari’s message of commiseration to leaders and people of the South east over the wanton destruction of properties and looting and vandalism that took place in the region when hoodlums hijacked the peaceful protests of #EndSARS.
This medium also gathered that the Southeast leaders would in turn capitalize on the opportunity presented by the meeting to intimate the presidency of important matters that affect the region, such as the deplorable state of the federal roads and other public infrastructure in the zone.
They would as well raise the issue of alleged highhandedness of security agencies against youths from the region in the guises of checkmating the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
But many see the meeting, which is coming on the heels of the recent controversial meeting of the presidency and leaders from the north in Kaduna as an after thought.
The Kaduna meeting had drawn the ire of many from the southern states, who vociferously criticized the meeting because of its seeming northern agenda. The Kaduna meeting among other things canvassed for total control of the social media, pledged support for the president and referred to the promoters of #EndSARS as enemies of the nation that want to force a regime change.
