A 30-year-old farmer, Ishak Aminu, was on Thursday remanded in a correctional centre on orders of a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s five-year-old daughter.

Aminu, who resides in Durumi Village in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, appeared in the court after being charged by the police with defilement. He was accused by the prosecution counsel, Insp. Chidi Leo, of committing the offence on October 28 in his residence.

He alleged that Aminu lured the five-year-old girl into his room and defiled her in contravention of the Section 209 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State, 2017.

Aminu’s plea was not taken by the chief magistrate, Benjamin Hassan, who ordered the police to return the case file to the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice on jurisdiction.

He adjourned the matter until Nov. 17.
