The federal government has denied that it has started compiling a no-fly list containing names of Nigerians who led the #EndSARS protests.
According to the report, Nigeria’s Immigration Service, which is under the Ministry of Interior is the government agency was given the mandate to carry out the task of collating the names for the list. It also alleged that the ministry had also reached out to the secret police for the profile of the selected persons.
The report also added that one of the major faces of the #EndSARS protest, Modupe Chizoba Odele, a law graduate from Columbia University, was prevented from travelling out of Nigeria on November 1, and her passport seized at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. She was reportedly travelling to the Maldives for her birthday on November 2.
But in a tweet posted on its verified Twitter handle, the Ministry of Interior said the news report was fake news as there was any such thing as a no-fly list that was generated by it.
It stated, “The Ministry of Interior did not, has not and will not generate any no-fly list.”
